Dorota Molčanová (b. 2004 SK, based in The Hague, NL)

When the map of the field I am standing at becomes difficult to navigate, throwing a coin or rolling a dice makes decisions and steps easier. I am counting on the yellow cars to bring me luck and holding onto a chestnut in my pocket as a power tool.

I like to look at fixed conventions that quietly structure our lives from up-close. In my practice I find unresolved obstacles – seemingly clear subjects that become contradictory and its borders become blurry, when looked at for too long. I try to get a grip on them with a regenerative approach.

I work through language and humour. My works take shape across different media, ranging from drawing, sculpture, performative actions, sound and artistic research. Interaction of an audience is often essential.
