You unfold a board game. The board is empty. You hold a playing piece in your hand and place it on the empty map of the board. What are the rules, where is the start, where is the edge and how to navigate it?
I wanted to get away from the usual understanding that defines a board game as a rule based activity in which people accept artificial limitations. I tried to do so by suggesting overviews together with big close-ups of boards, that are not clear how to navigate. In the drawing series BOARD 1-10 I am re-imagining conventional board game maps into a potential form of a map for an infinite game. Boards are surfaces that have no prescribed start, no terminal edge, no written instructions for movement and they seem fluid, with a possibility of changing a form, same as paths in life are re-stored and re-build.
