To what extent is fatality irreversible and to what extent is each of us able to influence it?
Firstly, we created a non-binary textile object similar to human being and called them Sasa. Students of our school had the opportunity to vote in a poll for the following development of Sasa’s life. After a statistical evaluation, a poll defined Sasa’s initial character traits and chose their destiny.
Secondly, we documented the process of fulfilling Sasa’s destiny, observed multiple levels of environmental impact on the individual and wondered if it is even possible to be completely free.
The paradox is that students answered 20 questions freely, but with the majority decision they created an unfree identity. This identity/ object/ Sasa made us realize that this being also affected us – their creators. The lifeless has become alive for us and has completed what we have not found in ourselves so far because it is our mirror.
Thanks to the international art competition „Máš umelecké črevo?” the Sasa Identity project was exhibited in the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava in May 2022. In this final stage, we gave the freedom of choice to the visitors of the gallery so they had a chance to interfere with Sasa.
